Just before the March Break students brought home a page outlining a Photography Task that is part of our Deep Learning journey.  The assignment is for each student to take a photograph of something that represent "Community" to them.  We are asking that photos be uploaded to the Hapara Workspace by Friday, March 31st.

Here are the instructions on how to submit the assignment in Hapara:
- Go to ann.ocsb.ca
- Click on the Student Portal tab
- Click on the Hapara Workspace icon
- Sign in using the following format: john.smith@ocsbstudent.ca, students should know their password (this information can also be found in their agenda on the first week of school)
- Click on the blue bar labelled ANN-1 LAN-24-1617
- Click on the green bar labelled Capturing Community - Copy
- Go to the Evidence section where is says Student Photo Slide Deck and add your photo to this slide (remember to add a sentence in the caption text box telling what your photograph is of and why it's important to you)
- Once finished, close the slide (it will save automatically) and click on the Submit button in the Hapara Workspace

Thank you for your support in this.  The photographs that have been submitted already are amazing.  I can't wait to see the rest!

A friendly reminder that our weekly library time is Thursday afternoons.  Please ensure your child returns his/her books on time in order exchange them for new ones.  Your support in this is greatly appreciated!

Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces

In an effort to ensure we have a "Thinking Classroom" students have been working in groups of 2 or 3 on "Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces".  The students are loving writing all around the classroom on windows, chalkboards, whiteboards, SmartBoard, etc.  I'm loving all the collaboration, student engagement, and problem-solving taking place!

Spirit Week March 6 - 10

We take the time of Lent to teach the children about being a light in the darkness. One of the ways children can let their light shine is by helping others. The week of March 6 is a fundraising Spirit week. Each student is encouraged to bring in a loonie, a toonie each day and participate in the fun. Funds will go to our Lenten initiatives.

March 6 – PJ Day

March 7 – Stuffy Day

March 8 – Jersey Day

March 9 – Lion School Spirit Day

March 10 – Tacky Tourist

40 Acts of Lent Challenge

Lent is a time when we think of others and try to make better choices. We do works of charity and make sacrifices to help others. During this Lenten season, we're challenging all the Lions of St. Anne to complete 40 Acts. We call it “The 40 Act Challenge”!

At the beginning of each day, we will read out a challenge act for you to complete at some point during the day. You may complete the act as often as you want. It can be for anyone: friends, classmates, someone you see on the yard, teachers, and other staff in the school. You can also continue this when you go home at the end of the day with your parents, brothers, sisters, and grandparents. This is a special way for all of us to come together and show how much we care for our St. Anne Lion Family. Remember, we're all in this together – all students and all staff. Let's make these 40 days an opportunity to make a difference.
