Your child has access to award-winning digital resources through Kids A-Z, Learning A-Z's website created for students.

Kids A-Z Login Instructions:

Step 1: Go to www.kidsa-z.com

Step 2: Enter or choose the teacher's username, mwalker216

Step 3: Your child finds his or her username on the class chart

Step 4: Your child enters his or her password

(password can be found on the inside cover of his/her agenda)

Word Wall Words

Last week we started our weekly Word Wall Words.  Students will be writing them in their agendas at the beginning of each week and they will also appear on the Home Learning Suggestions Calendar beginning in October.  Please have your child practise reading and spelling these words throughout the week.

Monthly Calendar

Beginning in October, a monthly calendar will be sent home with students that include daily "Home Learning Suggestions". The activities listed on the calendar support the thinking and skills that are being developed in the classroom on a daily basis. The calendar is not expected to be handed in at the end of the month. Its purpose is to provide students with additional opportunities to further develop their skills at home. In addition, students are encouraged to read daily.

All parent email addresses that were submitted to me have now been added to "follow" our class blog.  If you have not already done so, please activate the subscription by checking for the verification email from FeedBurner.  You may need to look in your "Other" or "Junk" folder.

Growth Mindset

The first two weeks of school we have been talking a lot about having a "growth mindset", turning "red" thoughts into "green" thoughts, and the power of "yet".  Here are some fun videos we watched about Mojo's learning experiences.

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us at last week's Meet the Teacher!  It was great to be able to meet so many of you and have the children show off their learning environment.  Also, a big thank you for all of the school supplies, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, spoons, etc.  If your child does not yet have headphones at school, please send some in as we use the Chromebooks and iPads on a regular basis.

In terms of technology, your child has been given a new password this year.  The password can be found on a label on the inside cover of his/her agenda, along with his/her login which remains the same as last year (firstname.lastname@ocsbstudent.ca).  Logins and passwords for RazKids and Zorbits have also been placed on the inside cover of the agenda, as will any further logins/passwords.
