November Calendar Now Posted

The "Home Learning Suggestions" calendar for the month of November can now be found on the right-hand side of the blog under the header "Monthly Calendars".  In addition to being posted on the blog, a hard copy will be sent home.

Sacraments at St. Patrick's Parish

Please mark these important dates in your calendars:

First Reconciliation will take place on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:00 p.m.

First Communion will take place on Sunday, April 30th at 1:00 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.

(there will be two liturgies to accommodate the growing number of students celebrating this sacrament, as well as their families)

PJ Day on Friday, October 28th

The students have been working hard at earning "gems" for kind and helpful behaviour in the classroom.  Now that all the "gems" have been earned, the students get a class reward.  They voted and decided on a Pyjama and Stuffy Day which will take place this Friday, October 28th.

Looking For: Early Literacy Volunteers

Calling all Early Literacy Program Volunteers!

St. Anne is looking for parents/grandparents/caring individuals who have time, on a weekly basis, to help support our students develop their literacy skills.  All training is provided.

Please send a note in your child's agenda if you are interested/available in this rewarding opportunity at our school.

Scientists in School

Scientists in School will be coming to do their presentation "Move It" with our grade 2 classes.  We are looking for 4 parent volunteers to help with centres from 8:55 a.m. - noon on Thursday, November 3rd.  Please complete and return the orange form coming home with you child today if you are able to help us out.  Many thanks!

Halloween Raffle

The Halloween Raffle will take place on Monday, October 31st.  Tickets are 1 for $0.25 or 10 for $2.00.  Please fill in and cut out the tickets at home.  Completed tickets and money are to be returned to school before Monday, October 31st.  Good luck!

Halloween Family Fun Night

St. Anne's Annual Halloween Family Fun Night will take place on Friday, October 28th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Admission is $10.00 per family.  There will be a DJ, raffle and bake sale!  Please return the form and payment to school by Monday, October 24th.

St. Anne School has purchased DreamBox Learning's Math Program, an online, Intelligent Adaptive Learning program that helps all students achieve better, faster math proficiency.

Your student can access DreamBox Learning from any computer, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using this link:

DreamBox is an online program - there's no software to download! All you need is a high-speed Internet connection and Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash is free and is included with many Internet browsers.

To access DreamBox on iPad, go to http://www.dreambox.com/ipad, or search for "DreamBox Math" in the App Store. Download DreamBox Math Green and DreamBox Math Blue to ensure your student has access to the full catalog of DreamBox Learning Math lessons. When prompted in the app, use this School Code:

Review your student's academic progress with a DreamBox Parent Account. Please follow these steps to create your free Parent Account:

1. Go to https://play.dreambox.com/login/bau5/stas1

2. Have your student login to their profile just as they would at school.

3. Click Setup Parent Access at the bottom of the page.

4. Follow instructions to create a new login and password. 

5. Read Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. 6. Click "Submit".

Log into your home account after set up:

1. Go to http://play.dreambox.com

2. Enter your email address and password.

3. To see student progress, click the "Family Dashboard" button.

Usernames and Passwords

 

Your child has now been set up with a username and password for Dreambox (Math), Raz-Kids (Reading), and KidBlog (Writing).  The usernames and passwords can be found in your child's agenda the week of Sept. 5-10, along with their Google email and password.  Links to these programs can be found in the St. Anne "Student Portal" or along the side of this blog.  Students will be using these programs regularly in class and are invited to try using them at home as well.
